Head up the electric boulder chute. - [ ] There's a ladder up where the boulders are landing; this leads to a Trinity Door - we'll return later when we have another key. - [ ] Head straight on from the chute. - [ ] Follow the hallways back to the central shaft; leap the first gap and tip the brazier over, cleaning up the decay at the bottom. - [ ] Jump over the second wheel, and head to your right to pull a lever creating a shortcut elevator. - [ ] Now head back to that second wheel, and hitch a ride; on the way down, jump to a platform to your right to open a chest with the Blind Man's Double-Sided Spear - [ ] Pick your way back to the ground floor, and head down the newly-revealed stairs to find a chest with a Crafted Cryptic Vessel - [ ] Head back up the shortcut elevator, stopping briefly about halfway up for a chest with a Legion Plug - [ ] Head through the grill door to defeat the Hunter (Halo) for a Quartz - [ ] Grab the Krat Supply Box from the chest in the following room - [ ] Head down the lift for the Cathedral Library Stargazer - [ ] Visit Hotel Krat - [ ] Give the supply box to Polendina and buy the Apple for 1000 (this is only needed a fair bit later, but grab it now) - [ ] Talk to Venigni to decipher the Cryptic Vessel - [ ] Follow the instructions to the Elysion Boulevard House Stargazer, then down the elevator to the bridge - [ ] The second clue leads to a door just outside the House Stargazer - yielding the Owl Doctor's Hunting Apparel and a Quartz. ## Cathedral Library - [ ] Head back to the Library and head to your left to talk to Cecile - [ ] Head past Cecile to a chamber with lots of Petrification stuff going on and drop through one of the holes in the floor - [ ] In the lower chamber, grab the Legion Caliber from the chest. Head through the door and up the ladder to get back to the main path. - [ ] Proceed until you get to the decay pools; head through the decay, defeat the decayed antler fella, and head up the elevator at the back to meet Alidoro - [ ] Suggest telling him the Truth about Hotel Krat; there's a side questline where you Lie to him here (and optionally some more times in later locations), but it doesn't seem to make any difference to other plotlines. - [ ] Back down the elevator, take the staircase to your left and head onwards. Don't follow the arched doorway into the next room, instead: - [ ] Continue on to grab the Archbishop's Diary note - [ ] In the study next to it, the Archbishop's Mark on the floor - [ ] And the Workshop Union Strengthening Frame (NG+: +1) from the safe - [ ] Now back through the archway, knock over the brazier, head down the ladder, use the pulley to unlock the shortcut, and go back and talk to Cecile to hand over the Mark. - [ ] Defeat Andreus. - [ ] Head back to Cecile for her Written Confession note and a record - [ ] Visit Hotel Krat - [ ] Alidoro has flavour(?) dialogue - [ ] Sophia has flavour(?) dialogue - [ ] Talk to Venigni for the Ergo Wavelength Decoder - [ ] Eugenie has dialogue (if you brought Alidoro) - [ ] Geppetto has dialogue for clearing the Cathedral area - [ ] Completing this conversation seems to trigger a transformation for you? Might relate to level of Humanity as well. - [ ] If this happens, Sophia will have more dialogue. - [ ] Return to the Moonlight Town Stargazer and head back up to the bottom of the cable car; the Atoned will aggro - defeat her for her mask. (This can be still be done for a while.) # Malum District ## Path of the Pilgrim - [ ] Head back to Archbishop's Altar to proceed down an elevator and out into the Path of the Pilgrim - [ ] There'll be a small graveyard to your left - [ ] Pick up the Smiling Bunny Mark - this will unlock a merchant a while later. - [ ] There's also an overgrown Stargazer: as of October 2023, this doesn't do anything, despite some appalling articles online that might be AI-generated. Best guesses seem to be that it's for an eventual DLC - there was a comment with a pretty good connection to the post-credits stinger. - [ ] Anyway, activate the functional Stargazer and continue onwards - [ ] Follow the short/shallow ravine to the right for a chest with the Acidic Spear - [ ] Head on to the village (Tomb Slums Entrance). There's a number of secrets here that you'll unlock eventually. - [ ] Grab the Wanted poster note from the pillar jutting out of the roof you walk up - [ ] At the far left from where you enter, there's an elevator shortcut back to the Stargazer (with a note at the top) - [ ] Be careful of walking into the lower central area - this triggers a miniboss to burst through the gate. - [ ] Defeat it for the Slum Shack Key, which opens the door just behind you (facing where it bursts in) - [ ] This seems to house the 'greedy couple' referred to in the POI near the elevator - the chest contains the Belford Superior Corrosion Resistance Converter (NG+: +1) - [ ] Follow the path behind the miniboss, cross the bridge, defeat the decay-bear, and grab the note near the drum-fire - [ ] Enter the crumbling tower, pick your way down, and head on to activate the Stargazer outside the Red Lobster Inn. ## District proper - [ ] Speak with Red Fox - and probably Accept the offer - [ ] They'll remember your choice later; being helpful leads to them being optional fights towards the end of the game (rather than required fights). - [ ] You don't miss out on any items etc. regardless of whether you befriend them or not; they'll give you their masks if you befriend or defeat them. - [ ] This also doesn't seem to have an impact on their... betrayal later. - [ ] Proceed and fight a Petrified milkmaid; to its right, there'll be collapsing floor that leads to a chest with the Arch Break Cartridge (NG+: +1), and then a note about La Bleiwies wine. Return to the main level and head up the stairs and outside. - [ ] Proceed ahead and descend some ladders to an area with a Black Rabbit Brotherhood bonfire. Kill the Thing for the Patience Amulet. - [ ] Poke around this arena for: - [ ] A chest with Quartz (ground floor) - [ ] A chest with the Bone-Cutting Saw Blade (upper level) - [ ] Proceed out the rear of this area and head up a ladder to find a King of Riddles telephone ("Candle"). - [ ] Proceed on until you reach the Red Lobster Inn; on the ground floor, unlock the shortcut to the Stargazer. - [ ] Immediately behind you, grab the note (about Monad Charity House) - [ ] Ascend the ladder behind the shelving... - [ ] ...and access the black market merchant, either with the Smiling Bunny Mark from earlier, or with a bribe of an Ergo chunk. It seems like the Mark doesn't show up on NG+? Or I just missed it... Anyway, buy: - [ ] Arch Shock Cartridge (NG+: +1) - [ ] Record (NG+? Not sure) - [ ] Also grab the Legion Caliber from the chest. - [ ] Head out the other stairs in the inn (nearest the Stargazer) and proceed to the boss. Defeat said boss. - [ ] After defeating the boss, head back to the black market merchant to buy the newly-stocked Bramble Curved Sword - [ ] Heading into the house beyond the boss arena, collect: - [ ] A note in the main room - [ ] A Quartz in a chest behind the counter - [ ] A portrait, through the left door - [ ] A note on the upper level - [ ] Through the door on the right, take an elevator up ## Back to Hotel Krat - [ ] At the top, talk to Giangio; exhaust his dialogue - [ ] Pick some Gold Coin Fruit - [ ] NOTE: you'll want to keep ~4 on your person for later interactions; you can pick more, but better safe than sorry. - [ ] Talk to Geppetto to get your next instructions, then talk to him again to hand over the portrait - [ ] Talk to Antonia for the key to Rosa Isabelle street, then again for some flavour dialogue - [ ] Take the door out the upper right of the Hotel lobby # Rosa Isabelle Street ## Entry - [ ] Proceed until you see the fire; take the stairs to your left and continue left to pick up a note about a performance, and talk to a coughing woman in a window for a sidequest about some wine - [ ] Continue on, grabbing the Artist's Doodle note just before a short footbridge - [ ] Inside the building, head through the window to unlock the ladder, then back inside, drop down the hole in the room next to the window. Grab a Special Report from the corpse. - [ ] Defeat some horrible baby puppets, then take a staircase up for a shortcut and a safe with a Legion Plug; go back down the same staircase, or take the external ladder, to continue on. - [ ] Ignore the battalion at the end of the street for now. - [ ] Descend into the ampitheatre and defeat the boss for a locket and a white mask. - [ ] This is required to proceed - doesn't seem like there's any secret story beats. - [ ] Head through the unlocked gate; hug the left wall, grabbing a note from a corpse against a carriage, and keep hugging the left wall to find the shortcut to the rear of the battalion. - [ ] Open the chest to find the Dancer's Curved Sword. - [ ] Continue along the main path to the Culvert Stargazer. ## Rosa Isabelle Culvert - [ ] Talk to Julian on the right and accept his quest. - [ ] Descend several ladders and follow a pipe to a "dead end" you can drop down; drop down there, and follow this to find a chest with a Quartz and a ladder back to the ampitheatre. - [ ] Get back to the Stargazer and proceed by taking the junction to the right, before that drop. Continue along, and in the little piazza you'll come to a shortcut back to the Stargazer. - [ ] Proceed; after crossing a bridge over Rosa Isabelle Street itself (lots of fire), there's a door a rifleman bursts through. Head in there to grab the Arch Heavyweight Frame (NG+: +1) from a safe. - [ ] Just down the stairs next to that door, you'll find Julian's wife. - [ ] Just down the alleyway beyond her, you'll find a shortcut back to the entrance area. - [ ] Head up Rosa Isabelle Street: kill the flamethrower, dodge the boulder, and leg it past *literally everything, including the boss*. You'll just have time to activate the Stargazer before the boss'll follow you up: congrats, you now have a proper boss arena. - [ ] Kill the boss for a Quartz; there aren't any key items back on the street itself. - [ ] Head back to Julian - strongly recommend Lying and telling him you found a message. He'll give you the Sad gesture, and a ring. - [ ] The ring can be used in dialogue with Polendina later, but I got the same outcomes in that interaction without it - seems to be optional, so long as you *have* completed Julian's sidequest. - [ ] However, you need the gesture for another sidequest and an achievement. ## The Operahouse - [ ] Enter the operahouse and take the righthand staircase first; make your way up to the room with the aflame swinging chandelier, and grab a chest to your right with the Belford Disruption Cartridge (NG+: +1) - [ ] Behind you is a corridor to a room with Adelina; talk to her, and give her the apple. - [ ] Now take the other staircase, and proceed along; you'll make your way downwards eventually, and there'll be a small door to the left into a dingy corridor with a chest: grab the Technique Amulet. - [ ] In the hall that corridor branches off, the room at the end has a safe with the Exploding Pickaxe. - [ ] Keep trucking til you reach the swinging chandelier; open the shortcut to the operahouse entrance. - [ ] Drop down in that room to unlock this Trinity Door (this order is just for convenience). The safe holds a Quartz and the Belford Superior Radiation Converter (NG+: +1). - [ ] When you emerge back into marbled areas, head to your right for a shortcut and a safe with the Incredible Venigni Collection. - [ ] Head the other way to find a library room with a big open panel in the floor. Grab a note from this level, a chest on the upper level with a Jeweled Cryptic Vessel, and then pick your way down to exit back to the main courtyard. - [ ] Proceed straight ahead from the Stargazer to beat the boss. - [ ] Despite the NG+ reveals, it doesn't seem like there's any other options. - [ ] Head back to where you met Adeline (operahouse entrance, up the righthand stairs); grab the record and the locket on the body - [ ] Head back to Hotel Krat. - [ ] Sophia has some dialogue. - [ ] Grab the note from Polendina's desk, then head to the rear garden to talk to him. Recommend telling him the Truth that yes, you've heard of what he's talking about (if you completed Julian's quest). There's different dialogue if you comforted Julian, but it doesn't seem to have any other impact. - [ ] Give the Venigni collection to Pulcinella; buy the Tyran Murderer's Dagger for 2000, the two new grindstones for 1k each, and the Belford Fiber-Reinforced, Multi-Layer, and Spaced Armor Liners (NG+: +1) for 3k each, and the Carcass Butcher's Amulet for 1.3k - [ ] Talk to Venigni to advance the Ergo decoding quest; talk to him again to decipher the Jeweled cryptic vessel. - [ ] Talk to Antonia for a little cutscene and dialogue; recommend Lying to her and saying "Of course". - [ ] For the cryptic vessel, head back to the very first Central Krat Plaza Stargazer; reach the sea-cliff and head to the end where you can see the Hotel. Gemini should have some dialogue; roughly where that triggers, use the Check Ground gesture (per the exact text on the note...) to find The Atoned's Hunting Apparel and a Legion Caliber. ## Beyond the Opera House - [ ] Head back to the Opera House Stage Stargazer and proceed onwards, talking briefly with the familiar face. - [ ] Head on until you reach some little market stalls before a tunnel; head up a ladder to the right to find a chest with the Clock Sword. - [ ] Cross the plaza beyond the tunnel, slide open the door, and enter Lorenzini Arcade. - [ ] At the Stargazer, duck back to Hotel Krat. (This might be optional.) - [ ] Sophia has some dialogue about the portrait. You can talk to her again immediately and you should probably trigger a cosmetic change - I'm guessing this has to do with where your humanity is up to. - [ ] Head up and take a look at the portrait. Talk to Geppetto for a reaction to the cosmetic change, then again about the portrait. On your way out the door he'll mutter to himself. He also has new dialogue about upcoming areas. # To the Grand Exhibition ## Lorenzini Arcade - [ ] Take the hallway opposite the entry to find a key; take the other fork at the Stargazer to use it. - [ ] The next key item is in the wine-filled cellar: defeat the big fella for the LADA F250 Frame (NG+: +1) - [ ] Continue through the cellar; in the room at the top of the stairs, grab another note about the Monad Charity House - [ ] Battle onwards until you hear the music; there's then a shortcut back to the Stargazer. - [ ] Coming back from the Stargazer, on the right is a bathroom with a note. - [ ] Grab the key from the fountain, and talk to the merchant to buy: - [ ] The Circular Electric Chainsaw - [ ] The Indomitable Amulet - [ ] A record (NG+?) - [ ] Head through the *next* shortcut back towards the underground arcade; dead ahead is the gate locked by the key we just grabbed. - [ ] Through here, head right into the decay-fog and work your way to a safe with the Spear of Honor. - [ ] Head the other way from this fog area and reach some more fog; head up some stairs on the left for a shortcut to the Stargazer, then head into the bar to the right and grab a note on your way through. - [ ] Down in another cellar, defeat the jester-puppet for the Hunter's Amulet - [ ] Push on and grab a bottle of La Bleiwies from a sideboard on your left. - [ ] You'll then come past a chest on your right with a Recharged Amulet (NG+: +1) - [ ] Reach the main concourse and open the shortcut to speak with Venigni over the Stargazer. - [ ] Head back to Rosabelle Street Entrance to drop off the wine and receive a Venigni Commemorative Coin. - [ ] (Optionally?:) Head back to Hotel Krat to have Pulcinella evaluate the coin. ## Exhibition entrance - [ ] Pushing on back through the shortcut, you'll come to the plaza in front of the Exhibition centre. - [ ] Head to the right side of the building; when you come to a tower with scaffolding stairs up, head to the left to fight a horsehair-crest puppet. Defeat it for LADA Shock Cartridge (NG+: +1) - [ ] Head up and take the tram. Activate a ladder, drop down, and activate the Stargazer. Open the entry door behind you. Head off to the left of the POTF. - [ ] Head up and past the shield-lord and bombers; exit the building via a doorway on the right, and head down the ladder. Run past the axe-puppet to open the shortcut, then defeat said puppet for the Strength Amulet. - [ ] Grab a Quartz from a chest in that little courtyard. - [ ] Head back up that ladder, then up another one; before heading out onto all the beams, drop down near the wall to meet and greet Belle. - [ ] Back up on the beams, cheese the shield-lord with throwables, then make it past the bombers and head down a ladder on the right. Activate a shortcut bridge, then head through the door behind you to your left. - [ ] Grab a note dead ahead. - [ ] Down the stairs, pick your battles carefully and grab a Legion Caliber from a chest. - [ ] Make your way to another Riddle phone call - "Egg". Head onwards until you find some marble statues; rotate the righthand one to get your Trinity Key. - [ ] From where you enter the tram hall, head through a door directly to your left; head upstairs for a chest with a Legion Plug, and a note near a gap where you can drop back down. - [ ] Keep going, and when a big dude drops down, just keep running to snag the shortcut back to the Stargazer and a chest with a Sturdy Krat Supply Box. - [ ] Go back and beat that wrestler for a Legion Caliber. - [ ] Head down the hall to the boss, grabbing a note on the floor on the way past. - [ ] IMPORTANT: save this boss Ergo! You'll need it to buy the Frozen Feast weapon off Alidoro later, which you need for one of the cryptic vessels. - [ ] Talk to the new arrival; recommend Lying with "Hope of a cure", but seems to be fine either way. You'll receive a key. - [ ] Intermission: - [ ] Head back just beyond where the wrestler dropped down and unlock the door to the Saintess of Mercy Statue. The Statue lets you spend Gold Coin Fruit to reset stats etc.; talk to the familiar face waiting for you. Grab the note behind the statue. - [ ] Head back to the Cathedral Trinity door - the fastest way is Library > take the lift back up > on emerging into the central chamber, take the ladder on the right and carefully drop back down to the entrance to the electric boulder area. The Trinity door area has a safe with the Black Cat's Amulet and Monster Sweeping apparel (plus a Full Moonstone). - [ ] Head back to Hotel Krat: - [ ] Talk to Polendina for Antonia's quest. Also hand over the Sturdy Krat supply box. Buy his Quartz and Legion Caliber. - [ ] Exhaust Venigni's new dialogue. - [ ] Talk to Belle. - [ ] Talk to Eugenie for a quest. - [ ] (Depending on your humanity (I think?) you should now be able to pat the cat. Seems to just be a diagnostic - no other effect.) - [ ] Recommend curing Antonia - head up to the Gold Coin Tree and talk to Giangio to use some of your Gold Coin Fruit for a cure. Give this to Polendina. - [ ] Head back to the Conference Stargazer and continue on to meet some old 'friends'. Recommend giving them a Gold Coin Fruit to receive the Quixotic record and the Beg gesture (which I think you need later? - to check.) - [ ] If you don't have Fruit on you, you can hit the Hotel, get some, and return; this only "fails" if you take the tram without giving them any. - [ ] You don't need to have interacted with them *at all* up to this point - they'll still act and talk as though you have. - [ ] Take the tram to the swamp. # The Barren Swamp ## Swamp entrance - [ ] Head to the first Stargazer, grabbing a note on your way through. - [ ] Proceed until you run headlong into a chest with the Belford Superior Insulation Converter (NG+: +1) - [ ] Keep going. Defeat a clown puppet for a Legion Caliber. - [ ] Cross a collapsing bridge and ascend the tower (downwards is optional). - [ ] Hit the lever to release the minecart that opens a shortcut to the Stargazer. - [ ] To the left of the tower (from the minecart) is a ladder; ascend this to fight a miniboss; the chest behind it contains the Recharged Amulet. - [ ] Follow the minecart downwards and take the path on the left. Catch up with Alidoro. Talk to him to give him Eugenie's gift. Buy the Frozen Feast now before you forget! - [ ] Continue on, and on reaching a larger swamp area, hug the left wall to find a chest with the Technique Amulet (NG+: +1). - [ ] You can ignore most of this open area; the artillery can take out the puppets and break open the big crates, but there's no key items. Head up to the tower and ascend the ladder - you can destroy the gun with a few hits. Regardless, grab the Live Puppet's Axe from the chest. - [ ] Follow the toxic river around behind the hill, and head on to activate the Stargazer. - [ ] Talk to the Broken Puppet nearby; teach him to Clap. (Teach him about Sadness and Anger as well - though not sure if those carried over from NG+ or if you *should* have them at this point - to check.) ## The actual swamp - [ ] The next area has 2 POTF, an artillery piece, and a bunch of butterflies - just take it a bit at a time. Once again, nothing of interest in the boxes. - [ ] Head round to the right behind the tower for a chest with the Fancy Venigni Collection. - [ ] Defeat the closest POTF for a Quartz. - [ ] Defeat the other POTF for a Quartz. - [ ] From the entrance, hug the left wall and (probably after healing - tough fight ahead) work your way past a little shack, then up a small ramp that leads to that shack. On the entry level, grab a note near the ladder down. - [ ] Head down the ladder to fight the Owl Doctor. - [ ] Despite his death dialogue, wearing the White Lady's Mask didn't have any effect. Doesn't seem like there's any other paths for this NPC. - [ ] Head up the larger dirt ramp to exit this area, then work your way down the shanty town on the cliff side. Watch out for the collapsing bridge. Head up to the Stargazer. - [ ] Head back to Hotel Krat to speak with Eugenie. You can Lie and say he liked the gloves, or tell the Truth; neither one seems to actually have an impact on later events. Pick based on whether you want the Humanity. - [ ] Give Pulcinella the Fancy collection, and buy the Pistol Rock Drill for 3k, the Arch Fiber-Reinforced, Multi-Layer, and Spaced Armor Liners (NG+: +1) for 5.1k per piece, the ~~Ring of Favor and Protection~~ Blue Guardianship Amulet for 1.75k, and any new grindstones you don't have. - [ ] Antonia has extra flavour dialogue. ## Barren Swamp Ravine - [ ] Cross the gangway with the exploding barrels to grab a Legion Caliber from the chest. - [ ] Head into the cave opposite - there's a bunch of falling boulders, items, and butterflies. Keep your cool - there aren't actually any key items in here. - [ ] When you reach the top room with the exit, go left to find a chest guarded by a Petrified bear; it contains the Arch Disruption Cartridge (NG+: +1) - [ ] Activate the shortcut back to the Stargazer. The shack to your left has a couple ambushes and a chest with the City Longspear. - [ ] Head upwards, and defeat the... Pinocchio puppet? For the Leaping Amulet. - [ ] Enter the Barren Swamp artillery tower. Head to the bottom to open the gate to the swamp, then up the exterior ladder to pass the artillery and continue out the other side. - [ ] Cross some long bridges and turn right to meet and greet Hugo. Exhaust his dialogue for clues about Alidoro, plus a note and a Cryptic Vessel. ## Barren Swamp Bridge - [ ] Head the other way to activate the Stargazer. - [ ] Head back to the Entrance to confront Alidoro about the note, then back to the Bridge to talk to Hugo again. Exhaust his dialogue. Again, none of this seems to have any tangible plot outcome, unless it influences Alidoro's reaction when you meet him after a much later boss fight. - [ ] Head back to the Hotel to have Venigni decrypt the Old vessel; with this in hand, you can finally head back to the Path of the Pilgrim in the Malum District. Talk to the new arrival there, and resolve this little encounter to collect the Life Amulet (NG+: +1) - [ ] From the Bridge Stargazer, head down to fight the boss. - [ ] Talk to Alidoro afterwards. - [ ] Head back to Hotel Krat: if you chose to cure Antonia, Polendina will have dialogue, then so will Antonia - talking to her will also trigger you playing a proper tune on the piano. (Not the one that triggers the achievement.) She'll give you the Greet gesture. - [ ] Alidoro will also have more dialogue at the Hotel. - [ ] Talk to Belle for her quest. - [ ] Talk to Venigni to hand over the Golden Ergo. # Return to Krat Central ## From the swamp - [ ] Return to the Barren Swamp Nest, and head into the tunnels. When you head *up* a ladder, double back past the hatch to pick up the Frayed Notebook note. - [ ] Emerge back into Krat Central Station. There's a note at the end of this first platform. - [ ] Head up the stairs to the Stargazer. - [ ] Proceed onto the concourse; take the gap on your left to deal with a decay-fogged platform, and snag the Quartz from the chest at the end. - [ ] Drop down the hole on the concourse. Work your way through the station, unlocking some shortcuts on the way. - [ ] The next key item is acquired by defeating a horrible Petrified beast-thing for the Murderer Puppet's Amulet. It's on the main path. - [ ] At the back right of this arena is an area that should be familiar, with a new POI at the end (or should I say the start?). - [ ] Up the ladder in the back left of the arena is a shortcut back to the Stargazer. Head down the stairs here. - [ ] Behind the stairs is a train carriage with Belle's partner. - [ ] In front of the stairs is a small area with an ambush (across from the POI on the wall); at the back is a chest with the Master Chef's Knife. - [ ] Head out the doorway near the stairs and defeat the Robber Weasel for their mask and outfit. - [ ] Head to the Stargazer and duck back to the Hotel to resolve Belle's quest. Lie to her to get the Why record. - [ ] Back in Krat Central, emerge onto Krat Central Plaza. In the far left is a chest with the Coil Mjolnir weapon. - [ ] Head out the back right and defeat a big Petrified fella for a Legion Plug. As you aggro him he opens a door to a Stargazer. ## Through the abandoned apartment - [ ] Upstairs is a merchant; buy a Legion Caliber for 4k, the Military Shovel for 3.5k, the LADA Large Capacity Corrosion, Insulation, and Radiation Converters (NG+: +1) for 6.6k each (and NG+: the golden Memory of Beach record for 10k). - [ ] In the same room is a note on a counter. - [ ] Head through the door for the next reveal / area. Across the 'bridge' and down to the right is a note on a corpse. - [ ] Up a ramp behind a Petrified porter puppet is a chest with a Strength Amulet (NG+: +1). - [ ] Back just before the ramp is an archway leading deeper. (And a ledge with a chest - we get access to that later.) You can ignore that for now - no key items, but it will be the subject of a cryptic vessel later. - [ ] Follow the ledge to the right of the chest for a shortcut; just next to the shortcut is the way forward. - [ ] Head through the collapsed tenement, and down to the left to beat an ambusher for the Arch Extra Heavyweight Frame (NG+: +1). - [ ] Push on to the Workshop Tower Stargazer. ## Workshop Tower - [ ] Uh oh: I realised here on NG++ that there are actually things being added on later NG+ runs - on the ground floor of the tower, in a room to the right with an Alchemist, as of NG++ there's a chest containing the Transformation Amulet +2. - [ ] Ascend the tower, collecting a note just before the hole in the wall to the exterior. - [ ] Just beyond that hole, drop down carefully for the chest with the Special Krat Supply Box. Take the ladder back up. - [ ] Follow the ledge around to a shortcut ladder. - [ ] Head on up for a boss fight - beat it for a Legion Caliber and the way forward. - [ ] Take the elevator down - some plot will occur. There's not actually any time pressure in this situation, but on reaching the next Stargazer you'll find you can't teleport. Head on up to fight another boss. It drops a Quartz. - [ ] After the boss, head into the Hotel. Talk to Sophia, then head to the second floor to talk to the others. Talk to Antonia to reset everyone and receive the Anger gesture. - [ ] Talk to Polendina to hand over the supply box. Buy a Quartz for 4.4k, a Legion Caliber for 3.8k, and a Rusty Cryptic Vessel for 1k. - [ ] Talk to Venigni and exhaust his dialogue to progress the Ergo decoding quest. Have him decrypt the Rusty Cryptic Vessel. - [ ] Talk to Belle, Eugenie, and Sophia for new dialogue. - [ ] Head back to Krat Central Station Street and head through the archway we skipped just before. Head along til you find another phone call from Arlecchino - "Ergo". - [ ] Now head back to Barren Swamp Bridge for the cryptic vessel clue. - [ ] Talk to Hugo and exhaust his dialogue. Head in through the now-open gate. - [ ] On the way through the ravine, there's a shack on the left-hand cliff with a note. - [ ] The next shack, also on the left, has a chest with a Quartz. - [ ] Swap to the right wall for the Stargazer. - [ ] Across from the Stargazer is a shack with a big Petrified dude guarding a chest with the Black Steel Cutter. - [ ] Push on; there'll eventually be a small crack in the cliff wall. The POIs here make more sense after the final-area reveals. - [ ] Defeat the Petrified shieldbearer - presumably Medoro - for the Misty E'rA record. - [ ] Up the stairs behind it is a safe with the Black Cat's Hunting Apparel and a Quartz. - [ ] Head back to Krat Central Station Lobby to open the Trinity door there. Crack the safe for the Workshop Master's Workwear, the Carrier's Amulet +1 (not just on NG+) and a max-level Dark Moonstone. - [ ] Head back to the Hotel, play the piano, and continue on. # Relic of Trismegistus - [ ] Down from the Stargazer, in the area with the three butterflies, head up to the right for a chest with the Hunter's Amulet (NG+: +1). - [ ] Head down and left to defeat the puppet that bursts through the wall to receive the Iron Wall Amulet (NG+: +1). - [ ] A little further left is a chest with the Cursed Knight's Halberd. - [ ] Head through the broken wall, and answer Arlecchino's last phone call (*after* killing the two pitchfork puppets just below - make sure they don't interrupt you.) - [ ] You can Lie with No or tell the Truth with Yes; different dialogue, but no apparent impact. Recommend Lying. - [ ] NOTE: for some of the next bits, you allegedly need a minimum amount of humanity. If you Lie, get off the phone, and you don't get at least "You feel warmth", you might not have enough. You should be able to listen to some records to get more. - [ ] If you Lied, he won't give you the key directly, but a box - open your inventory and Use it for the last key. - [ ] At the bottom of this sinkhole is a chest with a Legion Caliber, and the way forward to a boss fight. You'll get a Quartz. - [ ] Head up and treat with the NPC you find there. Exhaust their dialogue and then take the Attack option - take it again and hit them once to end them. You'll get their Cryptic Vessel. - [ ] This all seems to play out regardless of other choices you've made. - [ ] I saw claims that you may not be able to do this if your humanity is too low; doing a fast run where I did extremely few quests or Lies, I still got the option. So if this is true, you probably have to have like *zero* humanity to get locked out of it. - [ ] Grab the chest behind them for the Great Venigni Collection. - [ ] Head back to the Hotel. - [ ] Give Pulcinella the Venigni collection. Buy any new grindstones, and the LADA Liners (Fiber-Reinforced, Multi-Layer, and Spaced) (NG+: +1) for 6.9k a piece - [ ] Talk to Venigni for the last in the Ergo decoding questline. Recommend telling him the Truth about what you hear in his recording (but doesn't seem to matter). - [ ] Talk to Venigni again to decode the Cryptic Vessel *before talking to Eugenie*. Read the note inside. - [ ] Talk to Eugenie. **This quest requires NG+ to get both outcomes for achievements.** To get the records - even if lying - you need to have decoded and read the cryptic vessel. - [ ] Lie to her ("talented stalker") to receive the Far East Princess record. - [ ] Tell her the Truth ("brother") to receive the Proposal, Flower, Wolf Part 1 record and complete her quest (+ achievement). - [ ] Use the Stargazer and return to her to get the last dialogue and receive the relevant record. - [ ] Having rested at the Stargazer, you can also talk to Venigni again to get a recording from the King of Puppets. Listen to it at the Stargazer for some lore and humanity.\ - [ ] Head back to the Combat Field and continue on. Grab a note and take the submarine. # Arche Abbey ## Beach - [ ] Exhaust Sophia's dialogue for some explanations. - [ ] Zigzag your way up the beach; there are items dotted around, but none of them are key. Interact with 5 small mannequin scenes to get some of *your* backstory; the first four glow blue, and the fifth and final glows red. The final scene will give you some humanity. - [ ] On the approach to the Arche Abbey, there's items strewn about among Petrified beasts and artillery fire. There's nothing key, but if you want to grab stuff, use the artillery against the beasts and then head up to smash the artillery. - [ ] In the ziggurat area, grab the note from the central altar. - [ ] Head up to defeat the Door Guardian, activate the Stargazer, and enter the Abbey. ## Abbey entrance - [ ] The "puzzle" here is linear - head up the right, push the button, then head up the left. Take out the artillery, then unlock the ladder shortcut back to the Stargazer. - [ ] Heading up, the two Petrified beasts here are optional, but the chest between them contains the Veteran's Amulet. - [ ] At the top of the ladder is a Stargazer. ## Outer wall - [ ] Follow the main path; you'll come to a room with a pile of books and a note. - [ ] When you emerge into a small courtyard, wrap around up and to the right to open the shortcut. - [ ] As you continue you'll find a wall of bookcases with a note in front. - [ ] Off a room with a small Petrified beast, there's a chest with the Acidic Great Curved Sword. - [ ] Exiting this room, you *can* drop down onto the roof of the shortcut; there's no key items, but there is a Full Moonstone of the Covenant. - [ ] You'll cross a bridge (you have to activate) with a small Petrified beast on the other side, and a chest with the LADA F350 Frame (NG+: +1). - [ ] Through the room with two spitters, head down to open a shortcut to the Stargazer. The items on the ledges you can drop onto aren't key. - [ ] Above that room, with the artillery, is a chest with the Blue Guardianship Amulet (NG+: +1) and a ladder to continue on. - [ ] When you come to the vaulted area, wrap left for a Full Moonstone, and wrap right to continue. - [ ] Make your way to the bottom of this chamber; defeat a wrestler who breaks through the wall. (NG++: chest with Strength Amulet +2) - [ ] Crack open the final Trinity door, and meet someone awaiting you. "Puppet" is the Lie; "Human" is the Truth (unless this is actually determined by humanity...?) but while the dialogue changes, nothing else does. - [ ] Exhaust their dialogue multiple times to receive a toy, and then the option to Attack them. Kill them for an Alchemist outfit and a Quartz. - [ ] Take the elevator *in* the cloister up, and get off early to drop down on the right for a chest with a Legion Caliber. - [ ] Behind where the wrestler busted out, take an elevator down to meet Test Subject 826 and open a big door back to the two-beast bridge. - [ ] Talk to 826 to receive the Happy gesture (which should be the last, and trigger an achievement). Exhaust his dialogue. - [ ] Back on the ground floor of the cloister, take the elevator all the way to the top. Unlock the shortcut ladder on the far side of the long bridge, and then keep heading up. - [ ] Enter a big chamber with the Black Cat at the far end. If you gave him a Gold Coin Fruit back at the Exhibition, you can choose to give him another now to resolve this peacefully; if not, you must fight him. Either way, you'll receive the Black Cat Mask. No other apparent consequences - though I'm not sure about the Red Fox... - [ ] Continue on, and take the elevator up to the next Stargazer. - [ ] Duck back to the Hotel to give the toy from the Trinity room to Venigni. Rest at the Stargazer to trigger new dialogue with Pulcinella. This completes their quest and triggers an achievement. - [ ] With all emotions now understood, you can head back to the Barren Swamp to teach them to the Broken Puppet. It gives you a Quartz as thanks. ## Broken Rift - [ ] Head straight from the Stargazer to descend into a crypt-like area. You can ignore the side chambers - there's no key items. Continue straight, and ascend a ladder; continue straight to unlock a shortcut ladder. - [ ] Go right from the ladder you ascended, and hug the right wall all the way around to find a chest with the Mechanical Cryptic Vessel. - [ ] Take the final path up here - surviving an ambush by a jester puppet - and pull the lever, Kronk! Drop down and retrace your steps into the Crypt. - [ ] On the way to the ladder up to that area, the portcullis on your left is now lifted. Head in and defeat a Pinocchio puppet for a Quartz. - [ ] Work your way up the exterior of the Abbey. You'll come to a little landing with a short staircase up and a short staircase down; go down to unlock the shortcut to the Stargazer. - [ ] You'll come to a precarious set of beams with two Disruption sprayers and a butterfly. Make your way to the bottom for a chest with the Red Fox's Amulet. - [ ] Keep heading around the exterior. Past two Alchemists is a ladder down, leading to the only things-falling-from-the-ceiling trap in the game. At the far end of the bridge is the lever to turn them off and a chest with a Quartz. Back up the ladder and proceed. - [ ] Defeat a Petrified brute wielding a puppet torso for a Legion Caliber. - [ ] Keep ascending ladders, eventually taking an elevator even further up to a Stargazer and a boss fight. - [ ] Duck back to the Hotel, have Venigni decipher the cryptic vessel, head to the Collapsed Street Stargazer, make like you're heading for the miniboss, drop down to where the chest was, head through the archway and up the stairs dead ahead, equip the Frozen Feast, and talk to the merchant to receive Red Fox's Hunting Apparel, a Quartz, and the achievement. Quite the mouthful. - [ ] Defeat the boss. - [ ] Head back to the Rosa Isabelle *Culvert*, rather than Street, for Subject 826. Proceed through the left shortcut and up stairs until you find him on the bridge overlooking the street itself. Exhaust his dialogue. He becomes a merchant - buy the Carcass Crystal Axe for 3.7k, the LADA Disruption Cartridge (NG+: +1) for ~6k, the White Lady's Hunting Apparel for 5k (and NG+: the golden Fascination record for 10k). The axe should be the last standard weapon - you should receive the achievement. - [ ] Head back to Hotel Krat. Talk to Polendina to conclude his quest; head upstairs to Antonia for a note and the Memory of Beach record. ## After Ascension Bridge - [ ] Before heading into the next room, you'll need to make a choice about what ending and final achievements you want to pursue. - [ ] For the **Real Boy** ending and Pianist of Krat & Story of One Father achievements: you can make any choice inside the room. - [ ] For the **Free from the Puppet String** ending, you need to Let Her Live. - [ ] For the **Rise of P** ending and Story of the Blue Butterfly achievement, and Shadow Flower record, you need to Give Her Peace. - [ ] After making your choice, continue upwards to reach the Abbey Upper Part Stargazer. ## Upper Abbey - [ ] Make your way up the last spire. You'll see a room with a straitjacket Petrification victim and a chest with a Quartz. - [ ] Eventually you'll reach an upper area with an elevator (there's an item in front of it, so you shouldn't miss it). Ride that down for the Stargazer shortcut. - [ ] Continue on, and you'll come to the Red Fox. If you gave the Cat a Gold Coin Fruit at the Exhibition, and presumably also only if you gave him another just before (rather than kill him), you can give the Fox another Fruit to resolve this peacefully. Like with the Cat, regardless of whether you choose peace or violence, you'll receive the Red Fox Mask. No other apparent consequences. - [ ] Just beyond the Fox, you'll find Geppetto in a cell. Free him. This is required to continue; you get the option to tell him he was or wasn't a good father (Yes or No). No consequence other than humanity. - [ ] Proceed up to the next Stargazer. - [ ] Hug the wall to your left and go to the end of the ledge; jump across to open a chest with the Assassin's Amulet. - [ ] Cross the bridge and head left for a chest with the Leaping Amulet +1. - [ ] At the top of the next staircase, open the shortcut ladder. The item you can get by dropping down is just some Stardust. - [ ] Defeat a toxic wrestler for a Quartz. First time I beat him by managing to knock him off the edge somehow. - [ ] Cross another bridge; on the right is a chest with a Legion Caliber. - [ ] You'll come to a small chapel; on the altar is a note. - [ ] Just up from there is a Stargazer; on the balcony behind it is a note. - [ ] Head up from there for the boss fight. - [ ] After the fight, the boss will ask you about the choice you made earlier. You can say you Liberated Her or Gave Her Peace; which one's a Lie depends on which one you didn't pick. No story consequences - just humanity. ## Under the Abyss - [ ] Take the elevator down from the centre of the boss arena. - [ ] You now have the final choice of endings: - [ ] Give up your heart for **Real Boy** ending and Pianist of Krat & Story of One Father, regardless of any other choices so far. Allegedly you are *forced* into this ending with low humanity; if you're getting at least "you feel warmth", you can avoid this. Might be a lower threshold even, but I've definitely gotten the choice at that level. - [ ] Refuse, and fight the boss. Your ending will then be determined by whether you Let Her Live or Gave Her Peace, per the section above. - [ ] After the credits - and the post-credit stinger - **DO NOT** go straight into NG+. Instead, you'll be sent back to the Hotel. - [ ] If you took Real Boy, play the piano for the full tune and the achievement Pianist of Krat. - [ ] Head up to Geppetto's study; if you took Real Boy, Geppetto will have left a note on his desk, giving you the Father achievement; if you took Rise of P, Sophia will have left a note instead, giving you the Butterfly achievement. - [ ] If you have high humanity at this stage, and you have a fair number of the records, you can also take this opportunity to listen to a bunch of the records (which admittedly takes a lot of IRL time) and try to max your humanity. If you get it high enough ("your heart is pounding") you can check out Carlo's portrait for the Golden Lie special weapon. # NG+ - [ ] On your to-do list should be: - [ ] Going back through this guide, picking up the Golden Records that only appear now (once you have them all, in one run, you need to listen to 3-5s of each for the achievement to trigger); - [ ] Completing whichever Eugenie resolution you didn't complete the first time; - [ ] Buying whatever Special Weapons you're missing from Alidoro; - [ ] Going through a different ending (and if that's a high-humanity ending, grabbing any humanity-related stuff you didn't get previously). # Notes on stats and systems - Although the achievement for the P-Organs is unlocking Tier 5, additional NG+ levels reveal new Tiers with even better unlocks - so feel free to spend your Quartz towards the end of a run, but be ready to reset on NG+! - Just sense-checking whether 'pure quality' or a mixed build seems better: with a Golden Lie at +5: - With the Technique handle pushing it to Motivity D and Technique B - Motivity 5 and Technique 61 = 197 +93 - With the Advance handle pushing it to Motivity C, Technique C, and Advance D - Motivity 5 and Technique 61 = 197 +70 - On resetting to 5 / 11 / 6, it was 197 +9 - Technique gave the best returns, with +2 to +3 up until 25; then it was +1 or +2 per point until ~34; then it was +1 every point until 40; then it was +0 or +1 every point; then +1 only every 2-3 points; by 60+ it's +1 only every ~5 points! - Motivity gave worse returns from 5-7, but after 7 it was on the same track. - Advance - at only a D - seemed to give no extra damage, even raising it all the way to 62 - Conversely, having rejigged to 45 / 45 / 6: - Golden Lie w/ C/C/D = 197 +126 - Military Shovel Blade +10 w/ City Longspear Handle -/A/- = 238 +130 - Same shovel-spear with C/C/- = 238 +165ish - Note that as of patch 1.2.0 Advance only affects elemental damage! So there's no arbitrage to be had - unless you want to use the elemental effects, obviously - in picking handles of elemental weapons with A Advance scaling, and cranking one of Motivity/Technique as well. ## Final achievements - Real Boy, Pianist of Krat, The Story of One Father - Give your heart to Geppetto, and before NG+, return to Hotel Krat; play the piano for the full song, and go up to Geppetto's desk to read his note - Free from the Puppet String - Allegedly requires low Humanity, but apparently this can lock you out of refusing to give your heart? - So let's try just to leaving Sophia alive and continuing as normal ## Other missing ones - Golden Melody: all records - Special Weapon collector: presumably it's just buying all the weapons from Alidoro; will check back in if there's still some missing...
